The Xiehe Educational Foundation and Oxford International College have joined forces to bring you Oxford International English Camps - a chance for you to have a truly unique cultural and language learning experience in Shanghai this summer!

Excellence and Enjoyment

The two key elements of our courses are Excellence and Enjoyment! Our courses have been specially designed to bring you the best practice in English language teaching direct from the UK. Our teachers will be speaking in English from the first minute of the first day (Direct Method), focussing on all aspects of your language development. You will learn new ideas and new vocabulary, of course, but the real difference which you will notice will be the way in which your communication skills will improve - speaking in English, talking in English - even THINKING in English!

Our Teachers and Group Leaders

Our teachers are fully experience, qualified teachers and our group leaders are outstanding young graduates from Oxford and Cambridge Universities in the UK. This feature is unique among English camps in China, or anywhere in the world! A few of our teachers are exceptional young Australians who have experience of teaching in China. In addition, we have a team of bilingual (Chinese/English) teaching assistants on hand to aid communication between the pupils and teachers if necessary

Weekly Learning Themes:

Aims of the summer camp

• At Oxford International English Camps you will:
• Be taught entirely by native English speakers of the highest calibre
• Be taught in small classes of between 8 and 15 pupils
• Learn the four key English skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) through a wide range of experiences.
• Have clearly defined English language learning targets
• Focus on your learning needs – in our Negotiated Learning lessons, teachers will discuss students’ concerns and difficulties, and adjust the classroom work accordingly.
• Engage in a variety of enrichment activities to supplement classroom learning, such as drama, poetry writing, music, art and games. Where appropriate to support your language development, there will also be local study visits.
• Develop a more global perspective, and learn about life in the ‘West’.
• Improve your teamwork, problem solving, and decision making skills. In addition, older pupils will improve their leadership skills.
• Choose a different learning theme each week. Examples of this year’s learning themes are (depending on age group):
• The emphasis throughout the camps will be on both academic excellence and enjoyment
• All pupils will receive an official Oxford International Certificate of Achievement on successfully completing the programme.
• Fees are fully inclusive of all meals and refreshments throughout the day (morning snack, hot lunch, afternoon drinks), all materials, equipment and resources, and an official certificate of achievement for each pupil. 
• The only additional charges are for school bus transportation, if required (see application form).
